NEW MOON
The new moon rises on the waters of my heart,
Lakes, Sun and Fire
Evening’s tender wonder curls like waves before the last night Promises of sleep leave the shore to enchant the moon
You silver deity of the secret night
Guide my steps through the forest shade
Where birds sing to flowers that bloom and wither without regret
Where the memories of the day slide across the night
Where playful beings dance on the edge of eternal freedom
With the restless murmur of your song.
Pictures full of symbols and hints depict the path of a story that forks into several parts, and which then rejoins into one and turns into a continuous state of imagination and intuition in the artist’s work process. The everyday meets the unimaginable, the earthly meets the magical. Through this series of works by Teodora Nešković, self-portrait combines with the motif of inseparable opposites – fear and attraction, primordial and transient. Her painting compositions abound with animal motifs that, through her visual language, become completely new mythological creatures, symbolizing strength and power, but at the same time provide space for the emotional and intuitive side of her creativity.
