Sanja Vasić
Sanja Vasić’s practice weaves a nexus of poetic, conceptual, and symbolic vocabularies inspired by embodied experiences, memories, realms of subconscious and imaginary, and various references picked from popular culture and theoretical research. She often uses poetry as a ground base for her work as it’s able to track her non-linear streams of thoughts and emotions, presented through different forms including spatial installations and various text-based and visual forms. Her work operates on the level of effects and intuitive processes through which intimate narrations and questions related to identity, gender, and origins are endlessly intertwined and challenged.

“Two Songs” is a work shaping up for the occasion of AWB. Based on two poems written in the different stages of my life between different locations: “Sticky, Smelly & Sweet” and “Non-linear Expansion”, offering journeys across various landscapes and mental sceneries, subconscious territories and depths from which our “traumatic truth” (to quote Žižek reading Lacan) speaks…Playing with the fluidity of the poetic expression, dynamics of ambiguities and opposites, which, at the end of the day, can carve our senses of self and dictate the dynamics of our lifepaths wherever we go…
“Sticky, Smelly & Sweet” is also part of the “Tanane revolucije” (Gentle Revolutions) Poetry Collection published by Konstrast Publishing.
“Non-linear Expansion” is part of the self-published poetry chapbook “Water is Flowing. I Follow Her Sneaking. (also available for sale during the event).
The work will be accompanied by a poetry reading set to happen on June 9, 5 pm
Glass Factory (Staklopan fabrika).
