Danijela Pivašević-Tenner studied in Belgrade and Berlin. She lives and works in Berlin. From 2013 until 2020 she has been the Artistic Director of Dr Hans Hoch Foundation at the Künstlerhaus Neumünster in Northern Germany and initiator of the funding program “Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem”. Since 2020, she is lecturer and head of the ceramic studio at the Berlin University of the Arts.

She took part in numerous international symposia, artist residencies and participated in curated exhibitions a.o. Benyamini Center Tel Aviv, Israel; Contemporary Ceramics Biennale Jakarta, Indonesia; Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale, Korea; 1st Indian Ceramics Triennial Breaking Ground, India; 11th International Ceramics Symposium Avellaneda in Buenos Aires; Argentina. Solo exhibitions at the Schleswig-Holstein State Museums, Schloss Gottorf; gallery postel, Hamburg; Gallery Bunker D Kiel, Museum Tuch + Technik, Neumünster.

“14 days of artificial feelings”

Danijela Pivaševic-Tenner analyses the current standards of beauty in her work 14 days of artificial feelings. The work is about the fetishistic global trend and about our sensitivity in the digital age. Nail extensions have been a global trend for years. Due to the work, the artist underwent the entire treatment and in the videowork she shows how her tools, her hands, shape the material. The artist’s hands are her main tool. Through hands, the artist feels the material, processes it and communicates with it. This video work shows the absurdity of the current trend. The hands in this case are almost in a handicap condition and the artist, instead of feeling the material and being in dialogue with it, goes into a state of struggle.
