Worn out compromises − inside-out demises
In my research of the painting medium, I deal with the problem of using already existing visual performances as my starting points. In this case, it’s about frozen footage from two political movies by Costa-Gavras – Z (1969) and State of Siege (1972). Such “archeological” approach is reflected in the selection of templates under a critical magnifying glass, digital rearrangement and materialization using a traditional technique – oil on canvas. This so-called post digital artistic gesture covers digital, but in its last stage also includes materiality.
The past is quoted with the aim of re-examining the present, personal comprehension of historical facts, as well as materialization in the form of a thin layer of applied paint.
Worn out compromises − inside-out demises.
