Part 2 | Valentina Savic | Dinner with darling
Her work encompasses mostly ceramic, with video, installation and performance, exploring the fluid patterns that are connected with identity and how society is organized.
She reexamines traditional role models as well as the established hierarchy of art forms, which places art above ceramics. “Dinner with darling” investigates the relationship between two distant points. It’s a statement about the process of past-present-future distant relations and the plateaus that need to be experienced.
The ceremony of the distant event was embodied on the tables, at the dinner that is expected. Two empty plates await the offered future left to the viewer to anticipate his share. The blue-pink dinnerware for two is her handwork & the guests are missing…
Valentina Savic is a visual artist based in Belgrade, Serbia. She completed BFA & MFA in ceramic arts from the FAA in Belgrade (2007), specialisation at ASFA in Athens, Greece. (1998-2000), and currently at PhD studies at FAA in Belgrade. Her work was exhibited and awarded nationally and internationally at galleries, national & ceramic museums in China, Germany, Spain, Slovenia, Greece, Belgium, Austria, Argentina, Turkey, Tunisia, New Zealand… & Serbia.
