Gallery Singidunum | Ana Kala | Being

“That is my other self, or the other side of me. It took me a very long time to understand why this Being was returning to my painting.
It bothered me to define it, to get to know it, because it represented something personal, deeply buried and unexplored in me. Simply, one night I dreamed that Being and that transformative dream that I will never forget began to “haunt” me. But not as a nightmare, but as a challenge and a mystery that I have an indescribable need to explore.
This series of 7 pictures makes a small review of my Being.”

Opened in 1980, Gallery Singidunum is located in Knez Mihailova Street, in the heart of Belgrade`s cultural, tourist and business events.
The citizens viewed the opening of a gallery whose name linked Belgrade to its ancient roots, as enhancing the city’s core by positively interweaving and binding visual arts from the fields of applied arts and design together with the interests of an extensive and diverse audience. Singidunum Gallery was designed as a sales gallery for works of visual and applied arts.
The members of the Association of Artists of Applied Arts and Designers (ULUPUDS) and the Association of Visual Artists of Serbia (ULUS) exhibit and sell their creations on the ground floor, while independent, group and thematic exhibitions take place in the basement.
