Gallery Novembar | Gorana Bacevac | Solo Exhibition
The exhibition of Gorana Bacevac’s works shows dreamscape aquarelles, visions that are at the same time playful and worrying. These con icting feelings are the products of dreams shown in watercolours – amusement parks with clowns, imaginary architectural spaces, desolate landscapes, fantasy landscapes on some other planets.
They are equally dreams and visions of the past and the future. They are colourful and clearer than reality; pastel pinks, apricots, sky blues, cream tones are false or true memories of our actual or re-imagined childhood, but also of the non-existent spaces we dream of. A childhood that is, on the level of super cial memory, carefree and beautiful, but which in fact hides the trauma of the unprocessed and repressed. At rst glance, the feeling of effortlessness created with the use of valeur and uid forms, is lost upon delving into the details and in thinking about the nature of what is shown. There is something threatening and frightening in these depictions, partly because they are unknown landscapes that merely brush upon reality, and partly because these spaces are often deprived of human presence; they are the world after people, the world after us. Like visions of post- apocalyptic landscapes, without the drama of pop- cultural science fiction.

Gallery Novembar a contemporary art gallery which offers innovative, high‐quality art produced by established, emerging as well as newly discovered artists coming from Serbia and the Balkan Region. The gallery is set up as a vital platform for critical thinking across different art media, disciplines, cultures and contexts.
Using art and its presentation as a tool for analysis, we constantly try to contribute to the production of new knowledge and create opportunities for learning for the benefit of staff, consumers, the wider community and investors.
The goal of this multidimensional venture is to allow interested art lovers and collectors to expand their knowledge about contemporary art, to define preferences and to support them in building coherent collections. The Gallery Novembar aims to highlight cultural, artistic as well as financial aspects of contemporary visual art, trying at the same time to enhance the better art market in Serbia and the Region. Gallery programme for the current year is focused on the problem of the emigration of artists from Serbia and the Region to the countries of more developed culture. In this respect, the Gallery is looking towards Serbian and regional artistic Diaspora, and emerging artists disseminated across the globe.
Many of them have lost contact with the local scene and do not know how to approach it, while achieving notable results and building respectable careers abroad. The Gallery will serve as a connector and intermediary, inviting those artists to exhibit and reconnect with their homeland by putting them in direct contact with local collectors and art lovers.
